The February/March 1 SNAP Emergency Allotment is the final round of additional food benefits provided to households still receiving benefits from the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). This allotment, like the other additional allotments provided to households through the FFCRA, is provided to states using the same methodology that would otherwise be used to award typical monthly food benefits. States can use either the National Average SNAP Benefit Allotment or the State-Wide Average Monthly Benefit Allotment when calculating the 1 SNAP Emergency Allotment.
This allotment is different from the increased SNAP benefits provided under the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer Program, which was announced in the December 2020 Public Health Emergency (PHE) update. The PHE P-EBT program has been rolled out in different phases over the last several months. This additional allotment of SNAP benefits is not part of PHE P-EBT and does not require separate enrollment. Households already receiving SNAP benefits will automatically qualify for the 1 SNAP Emergency Allotment.
