NBA MLK Day Recap, Mac McClung Enters Dunk Contest & Latest Trade Rumors

The NBA celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 18th with a variety of special initiatives, contests and performances. In the evening, the Washington Wizards hosted the New Orleans Pelicans, who won the game 104–98.

The biggest highlight of the day was Mac McClung entering the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. McClung, an undrafted free agent guard, dazzled viewers with a variety of dunks and even a 360. Prop bets for the dunk contest included if one of McClung’s dunks would get a perfect score, if he would make use of his famous windmill and if he would be included on the All-Star team.

In the days leading up to MLK Day, there was plenty of trade speculation and rumors. The biggest rumor was a potential Pistons-Magic trade involving Jerami Grant, Dwayne Bacon, Moe Wagner and a first-round pick. This deal has yet to be confirmed but could provide a much-needed spark for the struggling Orlando Magic.

Another interesting trade rumor was that the Lakers were interested in trading for Warriors forward Kelly Oubre Jr. The two sides have yet to agree on any deal; however, this could be an important trade down the stretch for both teams.
